Primary Ingredients:

  • Japanese Raisin (Hovenia Dulcis)
  • L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine
  • Prickly Pear extract
  • L-Glutathione

Serving per Container: 6 to-go packets containing 12 capsules; currently on sale in the $20 price range. If you follow the manufacturer’s recommended dose, 6 packets would be good for roughly 3 servings.

What it Does: Zaca is an all-natural supplement that combines antioxidants, electrolytes and herbs to hasten your recovery from hangovers. It is one of the first products in the market to use Japanese Raisin, an ancient extract believed to have hangover prevention properties. I did some research about this particular extract and I found out that it contains Dihydromyricetin – DHM, which is also one of the primary ingredients of other hangover cures. The capsules also contain glutathione, a powerful antioxidant and glutamine, which is known to effectively replenish electrolytes.

I find this product really interesting because it is multifunctional. Because of so many benefits in the formulation, the chewables are claimed to be great for weekend warriors, business travelers and endurance athletes. Unfortunately, I’ve only tried Zaca for the purpose of this review.

Ease of Use:  Zaca is very easy to use, take it on-the-go with no water needed, making it an excellent travel companion. Take 2 tablets after every few drinks and 2 more before going to bed. I’ve tried Zaca hangover patches before and they do work at preventing hangovers, but you need to put them on before you go out. Now Zaca is being offered as a chewable that is designed to help you after a night of alcohol indulgence.

The Good:

  • I didn’t experience any side-effects.
  • Very easy to take. The packets are slim and fit into your pocket and they are chewable so you don’t need to take them with water (although you still should).
  • 100% satisfaction guarantee. In case you didn’t experience the same great results that I did, just contact the manufacturer and they will issue a refund.

The Bad:

  • Zaca is one of the more pricey hangover cures I’ve tried so far.

Zaca contains something called Sustamine which is L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine, thought to combat the dehydrating effects of alcohol by replacing lost electrolytes; Prickly Pear, which is high in antioxidants and protects the liver; and L-Glutathione which helps the liver to process more alcohol faster.

I was eager to try this new offering from Zaca due to its interesting ingredient list and the fact that they are chewable, which is different. I took a few of these during a heavy night out drinking, and honestly it offered a lot of help. I didn’t have the typical foggy head, nausea and fatigue the next day, which is awesome. In addition, it's a lot easier to take than anything else I've tried, since you can just pop them in your mouth like a stick of gum rather than having to swallow a pill.
